Keith Lionel Urban was born in Whangarel New Zealand on the 26th October 1967, he then moved with his family to Australia where he was raised before finally making his home in the United States where his is currently married to the Australian actress Nicole Kidman, he has become a celebrity with the music he sings, being married to Ms Kidman and his outspoken battles with alcohol.Urban's early influences were Glen Campbell, Dolly Parton, Don William and Jimmy Webb, he did have an interest in Dire Straits especially learning the fretwork and Knopfler's technique.
He released his first album whilst still in Australia in 1991, this was self titled which charted 4 singles, once he moved to America he worked as a session musician as well forming a band known as "The Ranch", the band recorded one album and had two singles on the BillBoard Hot Country Chart.
It was whilst with the record company (Capitol Nashville) he cut his first solo album (certified platinum by the recording industry association of America) this produced his first No1 in the Hot Country Chart with "But For The Grace of God".
His second album "Golden Road" produced the most popular country song of the 2000's decade whilst the fourth single had his nephew " Rory Gilliatt" and it earned Urban his first grammy award, his third album "Be There" produced a 4x Platinum certification, had x3 chart topping singles and is his highest selling album.
Keith Urban has released a total of 9 studio albums (of which one was only released in Australia), 37 singles in the BillBoard Hot Country chart with 18 being no1's.
As well as his singing duties he has appeared as a judge on the Australian version of "The Voice" and "American Idol" and in 2013 he began selling his own brand of guitars and accessories.
